Eagles star Haason Reddick answers questions about whether he is underpaid

Haason Reddick enters year two of a three-year deal he signed with the Eagles on March 16th of 2022, one many believe he is already outperforming.

We may be a ways away from having this discussion. Then again, we may not be. One way or another and at some point or another, we WILL find ourselves knee-deep in some spirited debates about a Haason Reddick extension, one that will keep him in a Philadelphia Eagles jersey for a long time, hopefully. There's truly no way around this happening.

Reddick, a Camden, New Jersey native and Temple alum, after spending the first four seasons of his NFL career with the Arizona Cardinals and the 2021 campaign with the Carolina Panthers, signed a three-year, $45 million contract with the Birds on March 16th of 2022. Time flies. Year two of that deal is already upon us.

In a financial climate that can sometimes be tough on hardworking families, it seems insensitive to call someone making an average of $15 million per season 'underpad'. Still, as most of you have noticed, pay raises work a little differently in the NFL.

Get this. Haason Reddick, despite being one of pro football's elite pass rushers, isn't among the top ten players at his position in terms of salary. That figures to change soon.

After collecting a career-high 16 sacks in 2022 and being named to the Pro Bowl and as a Second-Team All-Pro for the first time in his career, everyone is curious about what Number 7 might do for an encore in both the midnight and kelly green. Reddick also tied for the league lead in forced fumbles a year ago (five), Perhaps you have heard. Dude is pretty good at football

But, is he underpaid based on the results he has produced? That's the question everyone is asking.

Following the first padded practice of Eagles training camp, he was asked just that. Check out his response below.

Give Reddick his due. His answer to the question about a pay raise didn't shine a light on himself or take any attention off of his team. He knows his worth. At some point that payday will come. This is a matter of 'when', not 'if'.

With 372 tackles, 47 sacks, 16 forced fumbles, and 18 pass breakups on his resume after 97 career regular-season games (he started 64 of those games), there are no longer questions about his talent. As most of you know, Philly's leadership structure likes to lock its core guys up sooner rather than later, so you shouldn't lose sleep over this. Right now, his sights are set on proving himself, making those daily rent payments, and continuing his incline.

"Some people are playing for a paycheck. ...I want to be great. Simply that. I want to be in the Hall of Fame. I want to be a decorated player". What more needs to be said? If Reddick continues on the path he is on, he could make a name for himself in that regard. As Eagles fans, our job is easy. We need only sit back and enjoy the ride.
